Chess master Jude Acers, in his red beret, has played all comers on Decatur Street in the French Quarter since 1981. In December 2025 he moved his World Chess Table to the sidewalk by the Market Cafe at 1000 Decatur St. A game costs $5. There are no published hours, so it's worth passing by more than once.
